We often refer to the inner world we've created as the manor. It is a tall building akin to a mansion or hotel with many rooms that changes as needed if splits happen or if parts fuse.

The way we visualize fronting, co-fronting, and co-consciousness is using the gate. When one or more alters are in front of the gate, they are fronting or co-fronting. The level of awareness changes depending on how far parts are from the gate. The closer they are to the manor, the less aware they are.

We are well aware that this is just a visualization technique, but it has helped us better comprehend the clinical explanations for these experiences, and we still instinctively use it (e.g., "[Part] has their nose pressed against the gate" to mean that someone is co-conscious and very close to front).

Other places that may be mentioned (will change as needed):
The "negative space" (A temporary space for when any part could endanger the body. We call it the negative space because it's like an inversion of the top side, it is not a jail. No one just stays there forever as a punishment; it's more akin to going to a quiet place during a big party and then coming back when you're ready.
